OrganizationThe Civil Air Patrol, as specified by Congress in Public Law, is the official Auxiliary to the United States Air Force. CAP is thus, a quasi-military organization. The typical unit structure (such as the Johnston County Squadron) is much like a military unit, with the following positions:
*Positions denote "special" staff positions, or positions that are filled as needed In Accordance With (IAW) CAP Regulation 20-1. "Heavy" positions, such as Emergency Services, and Aerospace Education, can have multiple asisstants, depending on the work load or "operations tempo". Cadet Positions follow a similar structure, with the Cadet Commander typically answering to the Senior Member Deputy Commander
